Funk it with Dr. Ketchup

One of the best funk sounds out of Philadelphia is none other than Dr. Ketchup

The four piece is made up of Jim Lint on the Rhodes, Lou Fuiano on
tenor, Jared Bader on bass and Carl Barone on the drums.  Read

Adios: Guided By Voices

Looks like the claims are coming true. . .

GBV will be no more after this summer.  Their final album Half Smiles of the Decomposed is
out on Matador.  The label has also done the public justice by
releasing some old and new mp3’s on their site.  Check them out

Patch

For most of the 90’s the band Patch made music and played venues throughout California.  They recorded a series of albums on Mermaid Records and released their first CD on Saint Kilda Records in 1995 titled Wreck KingMembers
Adam Alcorn (bass), Glen Murrell (drums), Eric Brittenham (guitar) and
Joel Arquillos (vocals, sax) have since moved on to other projects and
families.

Greno “Paint the Fence Invisible”

Out of Santa Rosa CA, comes Greno, a multi talented musician with a
large discography (Mermaid Records, Leaf & Lime Recordings). 
He’s been playing drums since his teens with bands in San Diego (Outrage and Shep)
to Northern California where he’s been involved in numerous musical
projects and solo works.  He played with the band Patch in the
late 90’s and continues to grow musically.  Check out a selection
from his most recent recording. . .

Old Jorrell, New Listen

This song, originally released on the Patron Saint of Pariahs compilation by the now defunct St.
Kilda Records has been released once again.   It is now on an
album titled A Port Elizabeth Brahmin on the Crey park Recordings label out of San Francisco.

The beauty of baseball is in its imperfection.  Every game, like
life, is susceptible to millions of factors, some of which we canít
even conceptualize due to their quantum nature.  Whether it be
rain, a beam ball, a drunk jumping out of his seat and rushing an ump,
or a young punk reaching out to grab a fly ball souvenir that ends a
teams chance of making the playoffs, baseball never seems to stop
providing its audience with a reason to hate the sport or love it even
