Here’s a sampling of new friends and contacts I’ve made via the music blog world.
I came across the music of Sweet Billy Pilgrim
on 3Hive or *6ize once before (funny how numbers make interesting music
blog names). There certainly is something ’sweet’ about this
music. One of the songs that keeps playing over in my head is Aint No Jesus in Here.
It’s a catchy tune that delivers a kind, non-pretentious melody.
Simple and tender instrumentation compliments the delicate
vocals. They sound a bit like David Sylvian and a bit Badly
Drawn Boy. These folks have also entered the music blog realm with an interesting site called Pilgrim’s Progress. Here’s a sample of mp3’s from their site:
SBP : Ain’t No Jesus in Here
SBP : Experience
SBP : God in the Details
Another artist that’s making some intereting music is Chris Price.
He’s bringing that good old eighties pop back to life. Check out
his latest tune from an upcoming (or maybe it came already) ep titled Charge Me Up. Here’s the title track:
Also be sure to check out Ben Hartley’s site Dozer. He’s got great electronica and new world DJ music down to a science.
And stop by an listen to the music of James Apollo.
You’ll get a very passionate, folk/ alt-country rock jolt. The
tunes are simple but well orchestrated. The album is called Good Grief and here are some sample tracks:
James Apollo : Alamo
James Apollo: Dead Men Weigh More
James Apollo: Three Birds
