Pilot the Morning Fall – J P Greco Remix
February 20, 2006
J P Greco of S.Q.E. has taken on the monumental task of remixing our ‘December’ track from the new Pilot the Morning Fall ep out on 4F Records. Here it is, FREE:
Pilot the Morning Fall : December (J P Greco Remix)
And, if you don’t know about Blueo2 yet, you should. It’s a site that allows artists to sell their music online (like itunes, but much more grassroots man). You can buy this ep and many other 4f recordings there.

Kelley Stoltz
February 19, 2006
Straight out of San Francisco I present to you Kelly Stoltz. You can catch him often playing at Cafe Du Nord, but I think this new release on Sub Pop may alter the universe.
Kelley
Stoltz is originally from Detroit, but he lives in San Francisco now.
He’s put out a couple of records: 1999’s The Past Was Faster (The
Telegraph Company), 2003’s Antique Glow (Jackpine Social Club), and,
most recently, his own version of Echo and the Bunnymen’s Crocodiles
entitled Crock-O-Dials. We at Sub Pop are putting out his brand new
album in early 2006 and so excited are we about Kelley (and so prolific
is heÖ) that we couldn’t wait ’til then. So, here’s a song from the
forthcoming album (“The Sun Comes Through” and four more exclusive,
unreleased songs. Everybody: meet Kelley.
Kelley Stoltz : The Sun Comes Through
Kelley Stoltz : Perpetual Night
Kelley Stoltz : Jewel of the Evening
Kelley Stoltz : Underwater is Where the Action Is

The Prix
February 9, 2006
Where have the true rock and roll bands gone? We call rock anything under the sun these days. I’m not talking Chuck Berry rock boys and girls, but I do not mean Led Zepplin either. No sir, there are few true rock and roll bands that give you a desire to buy your friends drinks. That 70’s rock and roll era is what I jones for. Bands like the New York Dolls, the Stooges, Television or even earlier psychadelia the likes of The Soft Machine (or even Soft Boys). What makes a rock band anyway? I can’t say anymore, but perhaps The Prix can show you.
Out of Los Angeles we get the four piece band called The Prix. The band is led by vocalists Cashew Von Harding (guitar) and Blake Jordan (piano) along with bassist Zacharius Ziegler and drummer Stephen Mills. They recorded an EP in 2004 with the aid of legendary Emmit Rhodes (apparently the 60’s icon was listed in the phonebook). They are big fans of rockers like Alice Cooper, The Doors and X, but don’t think that’s what you’ll get. They have a very tight rock band sound that is sure to get our local San Francisco club scenesters bopping and drinking when they appear live at the one and only Thee Parkside on February 15th (don’t splurge too much on your loved one the day before).

The Boy Least Likely To
February 7, 2006
I guess I’m last on the scene spreading the word about these dudes, The Boy Least Likely To, but below I lead you to mp3’s and video by this fun, loving, stuffed animal crazed bunch of art school Brit poppers. They’ve received plenty of press and deserve it so I will not say much even though I could stretch this thing out for as long as grammar allows me to construct a sentence, you know?

Oppenheimer
February 1, 2006
First of all, great band name. Oppenheimer. I wonder if the band prefers the early version of Robert Oppenheimer whose mind helped bring to reality the first atom bomb (unavoidable I’m sure) or the ‘born again’ anti-nuclear man he became later in life. Either way there seems to be nothing tragic about this band. They have an album coming out on one of my all time favorite labels, Bar/None out of my one time home, Hoboken, NJ.
Here’s what a new fan and reviewer for 4F, Pearl, has to say:
not to put any in this review. But Oppenheimer sure does rock. The
first song on their myspace, “Breakfast in NYC” is catchy in that 80s
meets present way. The catchiness reminds me of the first time I’d
heard a Postal Service song- I found myself humming or singing it even
if I didn’t know the words. When I hear the songs, I think of myself
sitting in the grass in Golden Gate Park and watching a concert. The
third song is my favorite because it sounds so upbeat, when at first I
was thinking “Oh my gosh, this band seems emo!” Yeah, overall great
band. I’ll totally buy your CD.
